Hi all! I am a student who have been studying in the U.K for the past 5 years. I began by joining the Foundation course in Manchester in September 2011, and I am currently a master student. During these 5 years abroad in U.K., I have been receiving varied experiences and feelings, which I see as factors that have driven me to grow and change, in order to become an independent person. During these 5 years, I have learnt to build relationships of respect and trust with others in my everyday life. Every moment of my life in the U.K. accumulates to transcend me. I truly cherish the love and trust from both my friends and families.

大家好, 我是一名已在英國生活5年的留學生。我是從2011年9月在曼城修讀基礎班(foundation )到現在修讀研究生。在這五年的英國留學生活中我有着不同的經歷和感受,這是讓我在往後成長有着改變和成為一個獨立的人。在這五年的生活中,我能夠在平常生活中學習彼此之間的尊重和信任。這些生活中的點滴是慢慢累積而成，令我成長了不少。無論對朋友或家人,我也會珍惜彼此之間的感情和信任。

 

To begin with, I hope to share some useful information for those who are interested in pursuing  studies in the U.K. In order to prepare for studies abroad or to apply to an education institution, these things will be required of students, which are IELTS results, the result sheets of public examinations in Hong Kong (including the internal exam results at secondary school), and to search for an Overseas Studies Service agency. When you have the intention to study abroad and have discussed your thoughts with your parents, you and your parents shall search for an agency of a relatively larger scale. You don’t actually need to make an appointment, but to arrive at the agency with the documents that you have to prepared. These documents, which are the result sheets (at secondary school and public exams) are mainly for application purpose. At the agency, these documents are required for reference too, so the staff may inquire further and provide advices, which would be based on the interests and results of students. They will provide a full analysis so that students may identify the pros and cons of each institution, in tower to gain the maximal and the latest information.

首先我希望能夠提供一些有用的資訊給有意留學英國的朋友們作參考之用。正在準備留學或在申請學校的同學需要有以下的準備,這是雅思成績,香港公開考試成績單(學內考試成績單也需要)和找尋留學機構。當你有意留學和已經與父母傾談後,你與父母應在網絡上找尋一些規模較大的留學機構。其實你是不需要預約,只是需要準備所有的文件到留學機構。這些文件主要是成績單(校內和公開考試)和雅思成績都是需要作申請之用。當你到達留學機構,這些文件也需作參考用途,讓留學機構職員可以作出深入的瞭解及提供建議。這是跟著學生們的興趣和成績作主要參考之用途。他們會提供一個全面分盺讓學生能夠清楚明白各間書院的優劣,從而讓學生們得到最多和最新的資訊。

 

Once you have decided to pursue studies in overseas, I advise you to undertake the IELTS English language assessment exams as soon as possible. This is because most U.K. institutions or universities would require each foreign student to have reached a certain standard in English, in order to join a undergraduate or a master programme. When you have decided on choosing a certain course at an university, you would have to reach the required standard by that specific university. If your results of the IELTS examination cannot satisfy the requirement, the university would provide some English classes to enable you to fulfil their basic requirement. You can apply and pay the exam fees of IELTS online, and the exams would normally take place over a period of 2 days. When you have finished your exams, you would have to wait for 2 weeks before you could find out about your results. Thus I suggest each of you to apply for IELTS in the soonest time possible. Most students would apply to take the exam after mid-July, and doing so would make it relatively harder to apply for the undertaking of the IELTS exam, and also create greater hardship when you apply for VISA afterwards.

當你決定和正在申請留學後，我建議大家可以盡快報考雅思英語能力考試。因為英國大多學校或大學也需要每一位海外留學生有一定的英語水平才可修讀學位或研究生。當大家已決定到某間大學修讀某個學科,你們需要達到學校所要求的英語水平才可修讀。如果你們的雅思成績不達到要求,大學會提供一些英語學習班讓你們達到基本的要求。雅思考試是在網上申請及繳交費用及考試大多分為兩天。當大家完成考試後,需要等待兩星期才可知道成績。因此我建議各位盡早申請及考雅思作留學之用，以及大多學生會在七月中過後才報考,這是較難申請考試及對有可能影響往有的簽證申請。

 

When you have already prepared yourself with IELTS results and other documents, the agency can apply student VISA for you on your behalf. There are many questions to be answered, as well as many documents to be submitted in the process of applying for student VISA in U.K, and this is why I suggest you to seek an angry to apply VISA for you. From July 2015, the U.K. immigration office has altered the requirement for student VISA, which requires a bodycheck from each student that each of them would have to completed the bodycheck at the designated medical centres. Besides, the proof of income is also required, and the amount of income depends on the academic fees of each university and the everyday spending of a student as to set the standard, so to apply to study in London, the amount of income would therefore be relatively higher or more demanding. When parents have prepared the certain budget, the money has to be left inside a bank account of which the money must not be withdrawn. In fact, applicants should be well-prepared for the income required, and with one month in advance, as failed to do so would be denied for qualifying the income requirement. The fees for VISA application has to be paid online too. Hope these information provides you the basic knowledge about studying abroad.

當雅思成績及其他文件已作凖備後,留學機構是可代留學生們作簽證申請。因為在英國學生簽證中有很多問題需要回答及很多文件要提交,在此我建議大家應找留學機構作申請簽証。從2015年7月開始,英國移民局改變學生簽證的要求,英國當局需要每一位留學生有身體檢查,因此學生需要提早到指定的醫務所作身體檢查。再者入息証明也是在簽證申請所需要的,這主要根據每一位一年學校的學貴及生活費作為計算標準,而倫敦地區的生活費會較高。當家長們已準備了一定費用後,這是需要放在一個戶口而款項不可於二十八天內提出。由此可指定於申請簽證當天前一個月已應作準備,否則不可達到入息水平要求。而簽證費用也需在網上缴交,希望這些留學資料讓大家有基本的認識。
